Tio Matt ha llegado

Uncle Matt arrived Thursday night after a very long trip from Portland.  He flew through LAX and the flight from LAX to Madrid was about 11 hours.....ouch!  Despite missing his connecting flight in Madrid and being delayed an additional 2 hours, he arrived in surprisingly good shape.  For his first night, we took it easy on him and chilled out in the apartment (the standard acclimatization procedure).  The girls were very excited to see their uncle and have been all over him ever since he arrived. "Uncle Matt play with me", "Uncle Matt make me a house", "Uncle Matt swing me", "Uncle Matt make me a turkey pot pie".  I'm loving it.

Last night we cooked a nice dinner at home then Matt and I went out to hear some Flamenco music in the neighborhood.  It was a little dead at the Flamenco joint so we swung by Las Teresas in Santa Cruz to take the classic Sevilla tapas bar picture with hanging hams in the background, and then the EME Cathedral Hotel for a look at the view of the cathedral from the rooftop terrace. Essentially, the standard welcome package.

We returned to the Flamenco place and enjoyed a few hours of good music.  There were several singers last night and people dancing the traditional Sevillana dance.  An older, overweight Spanish woman dominated the dance floor for much of the night.  I think it was a good intro to Spanish culture for Uncle Matt.
